The Fair

Today we went to the county fair. Every night as we tuck her in, we tell Katie a list of "suggestions" as to what to dream about during the night. And the county fair and all its trappings are often among the recommendations. When it's February and it's cold and dreary, believe me, thoughts of a sunny day at the fair are what keep you going. And today was idealic. Really.

Arrival. Bubbling with anticipation. Everyone needs a cheap, simple tripod.

It only took 2 steps inside the gate to be hit with the fact that workers at the Washington County Fair may not be the strongest of spellers.

Katie in a backhoe bucket, with her new favorite thing on Earth: blue flyswatter

I didn't even know "haylage" was a word.

County fairs and gigantic American flags flown from a fire truck ladder go together like...uh... county fairs and gigantic American flags flown from a fire truck ladder I guess.

Katie was absolutely fixated on riding the merry-go-round. That was all she talked about. She was 100% in her glory. Nothing beats seeing your child as completely happy as she was on that ride. Wow.

Danny gets onstage at the Bounce and Ooo-La-La and Daniel (ironic, yeah I know) juggling show in the entertainment tent.

When a juggler woman with a French accent playing the accordian says that you will have a "long, healthy, happy, prosperous life" - that's pretty good, man!

A little kid that doesn't like cotton candy? Is this some kind of joke or something?

pictures - July catch-up

I've let myself get behind on the blog. So here's some pictures from the last month.

brother and sister share a little blankie time

July 4th fireworks. Danny's polka-dot outfit was appropriate for the occasion.

Since last year's 4th was a complete washout weather-wise, this was Katie's first time seeing fireworks. She was impressed.

C'mon, Danny gimme a solid "Twinkle, Twinkle"

neck...muscles...getting...stronger...

Bellstock XV: Our friend Gregg Bell has this great music festival/party on his idealic property in the Catskills each year. We normally camp for the weekend, but this year we just went for the day (and part of the evening). Katie loved the stream and running around with Daddy. And she was mesmerized by the bonfire.

A break from throwing like a thousand rocks into the stream.

"I wanna hold him, I wanna hold him"

"Whoa Daddy, you look so real."

Katie loves her big-nose-and-glasses.

Danny not as much.

Our neighbors got a new driveway. We got to check out the big trucks!
